Starring Ian Bratschie and John Wyatt Directed by John Gilkey In 1989, on the island of Islay, between Lagavulin and Laphroaig a small, abandoned notebook was discovered lying on a grassy moor. Many attempts were made to reunite the notebook with it’s owner, Pish Torland. Notices in local papers, postings on telephone poles and in local pubs were tried. All to no avail. Without an owner, people felt at liberty to read the pages that lay within. What they discovered was a treasure and it soon became popular to read out loud on Sunday evenings at the nearby Ardview Inn. Pish began to achieve fame in the UK and Western Europe, posthumously(?), for their (to this day Pish’s gender remains unknown) unique style of writing. News of Pish Torland’s notebook and it’s treasures reached Wet The Hippo through a great uncle of one of our members. Once we heard of it we understood immediately it’s true and immutable genius and set to acquiring not just the rights but the original notebook itself. This proved quite challenging as by then it had been deemed an historical document. Finally, after several years caught up in the United Kingdom’s complicated court system and various battles with customs, Wet The Hippo has been able to bring Pish Torland's Notebook to the U.S. and, more importantly, we are thrilled to be able to bring it to life exactly as written so that Pish Torland can be shared with the entire world. Now we hope, Pish (wherever she or he may be) will be recognized as the true genius they certainly are. NOTE: We have meticulously brought to life all of Pish’s words and drawings, word for word. In very rare instances, where Pish's writing was illegible, we have taken the liberty to insert what we feel Pish would have wanted.
